Laughter is a powerful tool for empowerment. Comedy allows girls to share their experiences, perspectives, and challenges in a way that resonates with others, creating a sense of solidarity and empowerment through shared laughter. Stand-up comedy itself involves public speaking, a valuable skill in various aspects of life. Learning to engage and entertain an audience contributes to effective public speaking abilities that can benefit girls academically and professionally.
Our program is designated for self-identified girls and gender non-conforming youth, ages 13-17.
Beyond the stage, the skills developed through stand-up comedy, such as quick thinking, adaptability, and the ability to connect with diverse audiences, are transferable to many areas of life. Comedy can serve as a healthy coping mechanism for stress and challenges. Encouraging humor as a way to navigate difficulties can contribute to mental well-being and emotional resilience.

No – you simply have to enjoy funny things. We will help bring out the funny in you.
It can be very little work, but you may end up liking it enough that you put some work into it.
Absolutely not. This class is a fun way to learn how to express yourself.
“I’m not Kevin Hart but I’m like… a 14 year-old Kevin Hart. Like he’s just starting out. I think that he’s funny but he doesn’t know that he’s funny. I think that’s where I’m just starting out.”
“It helped me open up more. I’m not as afraid to speak up to the crowds as I was before.”
“Thank you, Stand Up! Girls. My heart was full watching my daughter use her voice on a stage. It was amazing. I have a new respect for comedy.”
